Disaster Institute Training For AmeriCares
On April 7, 2009, the
Darien/Stamford Chapter of the Red Cross held a Disaster
Institute for AmeriCares employees. The Institute
consisted of a full day of Disaster Training including
courses in Fulfilling our Mission and Mass Care an
Overview. Fifteen AmeriCares employees graduated at the
end of the day with their DSHR badges. In the picture
are PJ Dodge (front), Emily Hillman (center) and
Sambardhana Shrestha preparing heater meals during the
shelter drill exercise. The instructors for the Disaster
Institute were Norm Guimond, Ken Goddard, Linda Colucci
and Ronnie Tella. AmeriCares trained Disaster Workers
will be “Reservists” for large disasters occurring in
our community. Several of the AmeriCares graduates have
already gone on to join the Disaster Action Team since
April.
